This handpainted creamer, made in Japan in the 1920s, is simply gorgeous. The body of the pitcher has raised gold-painted leaves and flowers. There is a ring of gold near the base; the upper rim is gold with tiny raised golden beads. The outer surface of the handle is also painted gold. The top and bottom rims are scalloped. There is just something about the overall effect that makes it hard to take your eyes away.
The makers mark is a lantern and ribbon with the letters H and K, the mark of H & K, the manufacturer.
There is minor gold loss and some grime and wear on the bottom. Otherwise, this is in remarkable condition. No chips or cracks.
The creamer is 3-1/2” high, 3-7/16” across the opening, 2-5/8” across the base, and 4-1/2” at its widest (including the handle).
